New Delhi, March 23 -- The resident medical officer (RMO) of the Central Jail Hospital at Mandoli in Delhi was suspended on the day of his retirement last month for "prescribing" a "wristwatch" to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar without consulting senior authorities.
A senior jail officer said RMO R Rathi was placed under suspension on the day of his retirement, February 28. Jail officers said an inquiry has been initiated as to why the RMO "prescribed" a wristwatch.
Chandrashekhar has been in jail since 2017 and is an accused in a Rs.200 crore extortion case. He was transferred to the Mandoli jail in 2023.htc
