Israel's 'lost tribe' heads home with joy, gratitude
Aizawl, Dec. 6 -- The Kuki-Zo Jewish community in Northeast India and those members of it already in Israel are celebrating the Israeli government's approval to take remaining members of the Bnei Menashe community of Mizoram and Manipur to Israel over the next five years.
On November 23, the Israeli government approved a plan to facilitate the immigration of the remaining members of the Bnei Menashe community from India to Israel within five years.
According to a statement issued by Michael Freund, Chairman of Shavei Israel, the proposal was submitted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer.
