Insurance firms begin settling complex claims
Ahmedabad, June 19 -- With over 208 victims from the Air India flight 171 crash identified using DNA matching till Wednesday evening, many of whom were laid to rest, insurance companies have began settling claims with families of the deceased, officials aware of the matter said.
In the aftermath of the crash, a handful of insurance companies set up help desks at Ahmedabad's Civil Hospital to expedite the claims process. Companies such as The New India Assurance, Iffco Tokio General Insurance, HDFC Life Insurance, Tata AIG and Life Insurance Corporation of India have set up such desks .
