New Delhi, Jan. 30 -- India's informal sector continues to create jobs but there has been a shift from better paid to unpaid or poorly paid work between 2022-23 and 2023-24. These findings, based on latest data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) are in keeping with the larger trend in the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), the official source of employment statistics in India. They also underline the gravity of the quality employment generation challenge before the upcoming budget.
