Mumbai, July 26 -- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has won the battle against inflation, even as it continues its war against price rise, keeping in mind its objective of price stability, governor Sanjay Malhotra said on Friday. "The war against inflation continues. We never let our eyes off inflation" said Malhotra in a fireside chat at a Financial Express event here. "Our primary objective is to maintain price stability, and we have mentioned that it is not inconsistent with other objectives and we have growth because that is a prerequisite." Retail inflation came in at 2.1% in June, the slowest pace since January 2019 and down from 2.82% in May and 3.16% in April.
