New Delhi, March 31 -- InterGlobe Aviation, the parent company of country's largest airline IndiGo, has received a Rs.944.20-crore penalty order from the Income Tax department, which the airline termed "erroneous and frivolous".
In a regulatory filing on Sunday, IndiGo said the Assessment Unit of the Income Tax Department (Income Tax Authority) has passed an order imposing Rs.944.20 crore penalty for assessment year 2021-22. The company responded to the notice that was received on March 29, and said that the company will contest it.
