New Delhi, Feb. 28 -- The family of the Indian woman who is battling for life in a hospital in California after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident was granted an appointment for visa to the United States on Thursday evening, hours after the Indian authorities interceded with their US counterparts on the matter, people familiar with the matter said.
Neelam Shinde, 35, from Satara district in Maharashtra, was critically injured when she was hit by a bike while on an e-cycle on February 14. The student of California State University was admitted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where she is in the intensive care unit.
