India, July 21 -- The 2025 FIDE World Cup will be held in India this year, and is scheduled for October 30-November 27. The tournament will be used to qualify for the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament, and the best Grandmasters in the world will compete for the WC title.

There will be 206 players participating in a knockout format, and leading to the elimination of losing player in each round. It will be a single-elimination format, and each round will go on for three days, which will see two classical games on the first two days and tie-brekas on the third.
