India's unemployment rate eases to 5.2% in July
New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- India's unemployment rate was 5.2% in July 2025 and 5.4% in the quarter between April and June 2025, according to latest Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on Monday. Whether or not these numbers signify an improvement in the labour market, however, is difficult to say, because comparable data from a year ago is not available.
At 5.2%, the July 2025 unemployment rate was at a three-month low on a sequential basis.
