India, Dec. 10 -- The Government of India has shared an update on the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the Automobile and Auto Components Industry, showing steady progress in participation, localisation and incentive payouts.
The PLI Auto scheme was approved by the Union Cabinet on 15 September 2021 with a total budget outlay of Rs.25,938 crore. The scheme is designed to support domestic manufacturing of Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) products, reduce import dependence and create jobs.
* 82 companies approved under the scheme as of 30 November 2025, covering both vehicle manufacturers (Champion OEMs) and auto component makers (Component Champions).
