New Delhi, May 26 -- India has overtaken Japan to become the world's fourth-largest economy and was on course to surpass Germany and take the third spot, Niti Aayog chief executive officer (CEO) BVR Subrahmanyam has said, citing data from International Monetary Fund (IMF).
"We are the fourth largest economy as I speak. We are a $4 trillion economy... This is IMF data. India today is larger than Japan," said BVR Subrahmanyam.
He added: "It's only the United States, China, and Germany which are larger than India, and if we stick to what is being planned, it's a matter of another two to three years and we would become the third largest economy." P7
