New Delhi, April 5 -- The Indian government has begun talks with representatives of industry to draw up a package to boost domestic manufacturing and promote exports in an effort to counter the blow from the 26% additional tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump on April 2, people aware of the development said.

The talks come against the backdrop of what experts describe as one of the most disruptive blows to the global economy and trade flows in decades, if not nearly a century.
