Varanasi, Jan. 5 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India is making strong efforts to host the 2036 Olympics, drawing on its experience in organising major international sporting events such as the FIFA Under-17 World Cup and the Hockey World Cup.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 72nd National Volleyball Championship virtually, Modi said: "India is now making strong efforts to host the 2036 Olympics to give more players opportunities to compete at the highest level." Ahmedabad is reportedly bidding to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, with a twin-city development plan involving Gandhinagar to build world-class sports facilities.P16
