India, Pak face off today under political cloud
Kolkata, Sept. 14 -- India and Pakistan are set to face off in the Asia Cup on Sunday against the backdrop of recent military tensions and political calls for a boycott of the match following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
"An India-Pakistan game is always competitive. So, we'd rather focus on that," said India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak. Fielding coach Ryan ten Doeschate relayed Gautam Gambhir's message of focusing on cricket.
"I have no doubt the players share the compassion and feeling of the vast majority of the Indian public... We are following government instructions," he said.
