LUCKNOW, Sept. 6 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday noted that road safety had become a major challenge in Uttar Pradesh with rising accidents and fatalities and warned that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated. "Road accidents claim more lives in a year than Covid did in three years in the state," he said, stressing that ensuring safe travel for every road user was the legal and moral responsibility of the authorities.

He was speaking at an event here where he inaugurated new transport services and witnessed the signing of a road safety MoU between the transport department and IIT-Kharagpur.
