Chandigarh, Feb. 20 -- The Punjab Police has dismissed 52 cops, holding the rank of constable to inspector, facing charges of corruption and misconduct, officers aware of the matter said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that commissioners of police (CP) and senior superintendents of police (CPs/SSPs) of various districts have removed 52 officers from service for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices, malpractices, criminal activities or prolonged absenteeism.
