India, March 28 -- The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai has witnessed an extraordinary surge in MBA applications in its second year of operation, receiving an overwhelming 5,59,887 applications. This marks a mark rise from last year's total of just 13,534 applications, signifying the growing prominence of the newly established institute.

IIM Mumbai was founded two years ago, replacing the National Institute for Training in Industrial Engineering (NITIE). It currently offers three MBA programs: General MBA, MBA in Operations and Supply Chain Management, and MBA in Sustainability Management.
