India, Feb. 2 -- The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to conduct a high-level emergency meeting in the next 48 hours to discuss the Pakistan government's decision not to allow the Salman Ali Agha-led side to take the field against India in the February 15 Group A match in Colombo, according to a report in NDTV. The team, however, has been given the green signal to travel to Sri Lanka and participate in the remainder of the tournament.
The media report further added that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is staring down the barrel as the ICC is set to impose several strict sanctions for selectively boycotting a match. It mentioned that the punishment could also be as harsh as suspension from the entire T20 World Cup tournament.
