New Delhi, June 24 -- The income tax department on Monday told Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman that they have a target to complete more than 225,000 pending appeals in the current financial year to resolve disputed demands worth over Rs.10 lakh crore as part of their taxpayers' service campaign. On grievance redressal and expeditious refunds to taxpayers, the department informed the finance minister that out of the total 160,229 grievances for FY26, they have already resolved 131,844 grievances (up to June 17) -- registering 82.28% disposal.
