India, Sept. 30 -- The Global Association of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) has for the second time in a row deferred a decision on whether the National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) is worthy of A status or must downgrade to B status. The peer group's award of A status affirms that the NHRC, a member of the 120-strong international body is fully compliant with the hallmarks set out in the Paris Principles. B signals "partial compliance".
