India, Aug. 13 -- The parliamentary standing committee on Railways has urged the national transporter to prepare a detailed database of bridges located in high risk areas and also in flood and landslide-prone areas. The panel also called for expanding real-time monitoring system to cover vulnerable bridges like Anji and Chenab in Reasi and Bogibeel Bridge near Assam.
The Indian Railways (IR) has already been real time monitoring of Anji Bridge, Chenab Bridge and Bogibeel Bridge are being carried out using sensors to monitor strain, tilt, wind speed, temperature and other important parameters to assess the condition of the bridges and validate their design.
