India, Feb. 16 -- Former Assam Congress chief Bhupen Borah withdrew his resignation from the party on Sunday, hours after he announced quitting the party ahead of assembly polls in the state.
All India Congress Committee state-in-charge Jitendra Singh said Borah (55) withdrew his resignation after the intervention of the Congress high command, PTI news agency reported.
Meanwhile, Assam Congress unit president Gaurav Gogoi also confirmed that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi spoke to Borah following his resignation. Borah's resignation was not accepted by the Congress high command, PTI cited Gogoi as saying.
