Silchar, Jan. 1 -- A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Guwahati on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a key accused in a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) terror conspiracy case linked to Assam, awarding him life imprisonment along with additional jail terms and fines.
The accused, Mohd Kamruz Zaman, also known as Dr. Hurairah and Kamaruddin, was found guilty of conspiring to set up a module of the proscribed HM terror outfit in Assam to carry out terrorist activities during 2017-18.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment under Section 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
