New Delhi, April 4 -- Resident doctors at Hindu Rao Hospital and NDMC Medical College are protesting the removal of 22 contractual resident doctors allegedly without replacement or explanation.

The Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) has written to the medical superintendent, warning that the decision has left the remaining staff overburdened, affecting patient care.

The hospital administration did not respond to queries on the matter.

Dr Akshay Sharma, RDA president, explained that senior resident contracts last a year, and can be extended for three years.
