India, Feb. 6 -- Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday announced a special session of the Himachal Pradesh assembly on February 17 to deliberate on the state's deepening fiscal crisis following the Centre's discontinuation of the revenue deficit grant (RDG).
Asserting that the state faces an annual loss of Rs.10,000 crore, the chief minister labelled February 1 a "black day" and claimed that this is the first time that Himachal's RDG has been stopped.
The chief minister said that the session aims to inform the public about the actual financial assistance received from the Centre over the past decade.
