India, May 26 -- Heavy rains lashed Maharashtra's entire Konkan region including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg district in the last 24 hours.
Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) declared an early onset of monsoon and upgraded the rainfall alert in Mumbai from yellow to orange which indicates very heavy rainfall which is expected to continue till Thursday.
Nashik in northern Maharashtra and Pune, Solapur in western Maharashtra were also severely hit by rains with several highways, residential areas submerged in water.
Suburban train service in Mumbai was also affected, as several tracks were submerged under water.
