India, Aug. 18 -- As dark clouds covered the sky, the city witnessed a heavy downpour for another day in August. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the city an orange alert (heavy to very heavy rainfall) till Tuesday, as per the latest forecast.

The heavy rainfall along the Konkan coast is the result of a low pressure area over the bay of Bengal and the formation of an east-west trough over the Arabian sea. As per the IMD's forecast and alerts, the rain will spill over into the week.
