HC upholds life sentence of MP chemistry teacher in murder case
Bhopal/Jabalpur, July 30 -- The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Tuesday upheld a lower court's sentence of life imprisonment to a retired chemistry professor who had cited scientific textbooks while arguing against the prosecution's evidence for killing her husband. During a hearing before a divisional bench of judge Vivek Agrawal and judge Devnarayan Mishra in April this year, the accused, Mamta Pathak, 64, argued that there were flaws in the postmortem report, especially on the time and cause of death, citing theories from a science book.
