New Delhi, Sept. 2 -- The Delhi High Court on Monday stayed the Delhi government's notification inviting retired prosecutors to be appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutors on a contractual basis to represent the government in various city courts, observing that it was "not acceptable" and "rather unfortunate" that such a move was depriving young lawyers of valuable opportunities. A bench of justice Sachin Datta kept the notification, issued by the Delhi government's Directorate of Prosecution (DOP) on August 22, in abeyance, until a decision is taken by the government on a representation submitted by the petitioner, Vikas Verma, a practising advocate, challenging the move.
