HC slams DUSU candidates for violating orders
New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- Every candidate who contested the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections "flagrantly violated" court orders and university guidelines banning flashy campaigning, including the use of earthmovers and luxury cars, the Delhi high court observed on Friday as it issued notices to seven candidates. They include newly elected president Aryan Maan, vice president Rahul Jhansla and secretary Kunal Choudhary.
A bench of chief justice DK Upadhyay and justice Tushar Rao Gedela said its earlier warnings had not had the desired effect and called the conduct of both elected and defeated candidates "disheartening" and "painful".
