Ahmedabad, Dec. 10 -- The Gujarat high court has set aside the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) decision to expel three doctoral students after they were denied promotion from the first to the second year of the coursework in the Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM). Justice Nikhil S Kariel, in a 41-page order held that the institute had no power under its own manual to remove students at the end of the first year for academic shortfall, and said the expulsion orders issued on June 7, and later confirmed in appeal on June 18, were without authority of law.
