New Delhi, July 10 -- The Delhi high court on Wednesday asked the Delhi government to decide within three months on a plea seeking guidelines to prevent unnecessary postmortem samples from being sent to forensic science laboratories (FSLs).
A bench of chief justice DK Upadhyay and justice Anish Dayal treated the petition, filed by Dr Subhash Vijayan-an MD student in forensic medicine-as a representation. Vijayan said routine referrals of viscera and blood samples, even in clear-cut cases, overload labs and delay genuine tests. The court urged the government to consider issuing SOPs to streamline process.
