India, Feb. 26 -- The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to a 28-year-old woman accused, along with her partner, of assaulting her seven-year-old son. The court expressed scepticism over the allegations, stating that it was difficult to believe a mother would harm her child.
"Prima facie, this statement is unbelievable as it is unsubstantiated. No mother can be thought of beating a one-year-old child as alleged," the court remarked after reviewing the case records.
