New Delhi, May 3 -- The Delhi high court on Friday directed the ministry of external affairs (MEA) to pursue with their counterparts in Indonesia to provide legal assistance to three Indians on death row in a drugs case. Hearing a petition filed by their spouses, the court asked the Indian consulate in Indonesia to also ensure that the three men are allowed to speak to their family and spouses in India. The three nationals - Raju Muthukumaran (38), Selvadurai Dinakaran (33) and Govindasamy Vimalkandhan (37) - working in ASL Shipyard were detained by the Narcotics Department of the Indonesian government on July 14, 2024, for illegally distributing narcotics in the form of non-plants, such as crystal methamphetamine.
