New Delhi, Jan. 6 -- The Delhi high court on Monday ruled that Border Security Force (BSF) candidates appointed later because of medical re-examination or other verification processes cannot claim seniority with their batchmates selected in the same recruitment process. A full bench of justices C Hari Shankar, Jyoti Singh and Ajay Digpaul ruled that seniority as per Rule 8 of the BSF General Duty Cadre (Non-Gazetted) Recruitment Rules, 2002, is governed by "continuous regular appointment, meaning the date on which an officer is formally appointed and joins service, not the date of selection or medical clearance.
