Washington, Sept. 19 -- US President Donald Trump on Thursday reaffirmed his "very close" relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi but defended the tariffs imposed on India over the purchase of Russian oil.
"I'm very close to India. I'm very close to the Prime Minister of India. Spoke to him the other day, wished him a happy birthday. We have a very good relationship...But I sanctioned them," he said during a joint press conference with UK PM Keir Starmer.P17
