ghaziabad, Aug. 12 -- A late-night rescue turned tragic on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway when a 32-year-old Ghaziabad police head constable was killed after a police response vehicle (PRV) was rear-ended by a truck, officers said Monday. Head constable Anuj Chaudhary and constable Pankaj Singh, 28, had rushed to the Amrala underpass stretch near Bhojpur around 12.12am after receiving a call that a Thar SUV, headed towards Meerut, had crashed into the central verge and its passengers were injured. According to assistant commissioner of police (Modinagar circle) Amit Saxena, the constables parked the PRV on the roadside and began assisting the SUV's occupants.
