Chandigarh, Nov. 18 -- Chandigarh has become the first Union Territory to fully implement the three new criminal laws, said UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria during the 32nd meeting of the Northern Zonal Council (NZC) in Faridabad, Haryana, on Monday. He said the UT has achieved a 91% conviction rate under the reformed legal framework-setting a national benchmark for efficiency and judicial rigour.
The meeting was chaired by Union home minister and minister of cooperation Amit Shah.
Last year in December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation the successful implementation of the three new criminal laws in Chandigarh.
