India, July 21 -- Nearly 900 students at Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GGSSS), Bhim Nagar, are attending classes in corridors and under temporary plastic sheds as the school grapples with an acute infrastructure crisis. With only six functional classrooms remaining after a major portion of the building was declared unsafe and demolished in December 2024, students and teachers say learning is suffering severely.
To manage the student load, the school operates in two shifts. Around 500 students from classes 9 to 12 attend the morning shift, while about 400 students from classes 1 to 8 study in the evening.
