India, Aug. 30 -- The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Friday imposed a fine of Rs.2 lakh on sanitation agency for failing to maintain cleanliness in Ward 1. The action was taken after commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, during a surprise inspection conducted on Friday, found garbage scattered and sanitation work poorly executed in Nathupur village and surrounding areas.

Dahiya, accompanied by additional commissioner Ravindra Yadav, conducted the inspection along with ward councillor Sunder Singh and local residents. Expressing dissatisfaction over the state of sanitation, the commissioner ordered an immediate penalty on the agency and warned that further lapses would invite stricter measures, including cancellation of contracts.
