Gukesh, Carlsen in fight for the top spot in Norway
Bengaluru, June 7 -- It's going to be a Gukesh vs Carlsen battle to the finish. Norway Chess heads into its final round, with world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen leading reigning world champion Gukesh D by half a point at the top of a stacked field. It will all come down to the final round.
Gukesh (14.5 points) will take on Fabiano Caruana in Round 10 and Carlsen (15 points) will have Arjun Erigaisi standing between him and a seventh Norway Chess title. Carlsen's round six loss to Gukesh though seems to have left him somewhat despondent. The manner of the five-time world champion's defeat against the 19-year-old Indian has self admittedly dented his motivation to win the tournament.
