New Delhi, June 2 -- Gross goods and services tax revenues rose about 16.4% to cross Rs.2.01 lakh crore in May, compared to last year, registering the third-highest monthly tax collection, which according to experts provides a cushion to the GST Council for rationalising tax rates. Gross GST collections rose to Rs.2,01,050 crore in May 2025, compared to Rs.1,72,739 crore in the same month of 2024. After refunds of Rs.27,210 crore in May 2025, net GST revenue stood at Rs.1,73,841 crore, a 20.4% growth compared to Rs.1,44,381 crore in May 2024, as per government data released on Sunday.
