GST collections climb 7.5% in July
New Delhi, Aug. 2 -- India's gross goods and services tax (GST) revenue climbed 7.5% year-on-year to Rs.1.96 lakh crore in July, marking the fifth-highest monthly collection since the tax regime's launch in July 2017. However, net revenue managed only a modest 1.7% increase to Rs.1.69 lakh crore, dragged down by soaring refunds and sluggish collections in key states.
Government data released on Tuesday showed gross GST collections reached Rs.1,95,735 crore in July 2025, compared with Rs.1,82,075 crore in the same month last year. But after accounting for Rs.27,147 crore in refunds-a sharp 66.8% jump from Rs.16,275 crore in July 2024-net revenue stood at Rs.1,68,588 crore against Rs.1,65,800 crore a year earlier.
