India, March 16 -- A German national and US green card holder, Fabian Schmidt, was detained by US immigration authorities upon his return to the country on March 7. Schmidt, 34, who has lived in the United States since his teens and currently resides in New Hampshire, was stopped at Logan International Airport in Massachusetts after returning from Luxembourg, reported Newsweek.
His family says he was stripped naked, "violently interrogated," and later transferred to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility.
Schmidt's mother, Astrid Senior, expressed deep distress over the incident. "I'm feeling shaken up. It's unbelievable what's happening now," she told the Boston Globe.
