India, Sept. 25 -- India's Defence Ministry has signed a deal worth Rs.62,370 crore (about $7 billion) with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. to procure 97 Tejas Mk-1A fighter jets for the Indian Air Force.
These aircraft will have more than 64% locally sourced components, the government said in a statement on Thursday, underscoring the defence manufacturing push. Deliveries will start in 2027-28.
This is a developing story.
