New Delhi, April 8 -- A gaur calf died at the Delhi zoo on Monday, officials said, adding that a post mortem examination is to be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
Delhi zoo director Sanjeet Kumar said the calf, aged six to eight months, had no previous sign of illness, making its death surprising. "The animal was healthy and it was under its mother's care. The reason for death will be ascertained the post mortem examination and sample testing," Kumar said.
