New Delhi, March 26 -- Rajiv Gauba, former Union cabinet secretary, has been appointed as the new and fifth full-time member of NITI Aayog, holding the rank of minister of state, an official notification said on Tuesday.

".the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Shri Rajiv Gauba, IAS (JH:1982) Retd. as Full-Time Member, NITI Aayog with immediate effect.," the notification said.

NITI Aayog is the Centre's policy think-tank.

Gauba, a 1982-batch IAS officer, has served as Union home secretary and Union cabinet secretary. Earlier, he also served as the secretary for housing & urban affairs, as well as the chief secretary of Jharkhand.
