India, May 24 -- Four Maoists were gunned down on Friday by security forces in a fierce encounter in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, officials said. Officials said a joint operation was launched by CRPF and C-60 commando unit, an elite anti-Maoist squad of Gadchiroli police, on Thursday following intelligence inputs about Maoist activity near a forward operating base in the Kawande forest area. htc
