Bulandshahr, Aug. 2 -- A local court on Friday sentenced five convicts to life imprisonment on charges of murder, and 33 others to seven years in prison on charges including arson, damaging public property, and attempted murder in connection with their involvement in the December 2018 Bulandshahr riots that led to the murder of a police officer and a 20-year-old local resident. Of the 44 people named in the police charge sheet, the court convicted 38 on Wednesday. Communal violence had broken out in the district over allegations of cow slaughter in the Syana area.P10
