India, Jan. 8 -- The Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA), a conglomerate of filmmakers from India's various film industries, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting government intervention in the ban faced by the film Dhurandhar in the Middle East. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, did not find release in several Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
In its letter, IMPPA described the ban as "unilateral and uncalled for," adding that it infringes upon the freedom of expression of Dhurandhar's makers.
